[edit] Changes?

Perhaps opaque / transparent analogy could be clarified --

Pete, what kind of specific changes would you want to make to the Patriot Act that would keep the communication lines open but protect our privacy? Chadlupkes 14:23, 13 December 2005 (MST)

It is entirely B.S. the only point of the Patriot Act is to gut the fourth amendment.

Agrees with the previous line--Projektdotnet 14:06, 2 May 2006 (MDT)

This is his way of saying that he will vote for the patriot act, but it will have one or two of the more in your face provisions removed.

Pete loves all but the bad press.

[edit] Finalization?

This issue needs to be fleshed out a bit more. Perhaps it would help to cite some specific bits of the Patriot Act that are being misused, and clarify how you would fix the problems it has raised. Dilvie 04:21, 7 January 2006 (MST)

[edit] addressing specific concerns

"This is his way of saying that he will vote for the patriot act, but it will have one or two of the more in your face provisions removed." -- is that true? do you think so? or would it be better to revert to zero and start over? In my opinion the Patriot Act should be recognized as a mistake and repealed completely, and legislation to address the concerns you talked about (like interaction between government agencies) be enacted separately. Six one way, half-a-dozen the other. Whatever is easiest, I suppose. One comment above states that all of the Patriot Act is gutting the 4th Amendment. I'd like specifics on what part of the interagency communication does that.--pashdown 17:53, 25 July 2006 (MDT)
