Global Poverty
Current American foreign policy is not winning the "hearts and minds" of the rest of the world. Returning the USA to an example of freedom and human rights will rekindle the light in our beacon. Clean water wells and mosquito-net programs are small, inexpensive ways to help developing countries. Paint an American flag on both of them and children will grow up revering the United States rather than fearing it.
The economic power of the United States is a creative force greater than any destructive force of our military. With this power we should express the core ideals upon which America was founded. Basic human freedom, rights, and expression along with environmental preservation should be core to our trade agreements. I believe foreign policy wins many more hearts and minds if we are fighting poverty, disease, and ignorance. I support an America that is committed to peaceful aims instead of war. I feel that the ONE campaign has some great ideas regarding this issue.
